From 2016 the travel time by high-speed train Sapsan between Moscow and St. Petersburg will be reduced to three and a half hours. Currentl the train journey between Russia’s two largest cities takes between 3 hours and 40 minutes and 3 hours and 50 minutes.
“We set ourselves the task to set the travel time down to 3 hours and 30 minutes in 2016″, said the vice president of Russia’s state railway company “Russian Railways” to journalists.
According to him, this is a ambitious task requiring ignificant investments.
There are also plans to reduce the travel time by high-speed train on the route Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod accordingly. Source: russland.RU
