St. Petersburg follows Moscow’s good example and installs bike rental stations throughout the city. 34 self-service stations with 500 bicycles will be ready for June 19, reads the German-speaking local newspaper “St. Petersburger Herold”.
Rental stations with electronic payment terminals already exist for example at “Gostiny Dvor”, Alexandrinsky theater, sports complex “Jubileiny” and at the metro stations “Petrogradskaya” and “Vasileostrovskaya” have already been installed.
The bikes can be used free for the first half hour, each additional half hour costs 30 rubles. As a regular customer, you can use the bikes for 100 rubles per day. The rental company requires a deposit of 1,000 rubles. If you return a broken bike you must pay up to 15,000 rubles, in case of loss even a fine of up to 30,000 rubles.
