The border towns of Nikel and Zapolyarny (Pechenga region; Murmansk) will host the Days of Russian-Norwegian cross border cooperation on November 29 and 30. This annual international event has taken place in Nikel since 2011 on the initiative of the Government of the Murmansk region. The event is supported by the Norwegian Consulate General in Murmansk, the Russian Consulate General in Kirkenes, Sør-Varanger Municipality and Foreign Investors Business Association.
The first day of the international conference will take place in Nikel. After the official opening by Vice Govenor Aleksej Tukavin (Murmansk) and County Govenor Runar Sjåstad (Finnmark) the Plenary Session will start with focus on cooperation across the border. During the afternoon to parallel panel discussions will take place: one about the wide field of society and youth, culture and art, historical and cultural heritage, the other with the subject “Business and infrastructure”, including tourism.
Two photo exhibitions and a music performance will be a part of the program.
On the second day the event will continue in Zapolyarny with a tourism workshop. The Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC) is the main organizer of that event, together with FIBA, the regional Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry for development of industry and entrepreneurship.
In the afternoon an excursion the St. Tryphon`s Monastary in Luostary will be organised.
